Quantity and Capacity (MW / MWh)

Each order on the ETPA platform includes a quantity that defines the amount of electricity offered or requested.

Capacity (MW)

Capacity, measured in megawatts (MW), represents the power level applied continuously during a specific delivery period. It defines how much power is to be delivered or consumed at any moment within that period. Orders on the ETPA platform are submitted in MW.

Energy (MWh)

Energy, measured in megawatt-hours (MWh), represents the total amount of electricity delivered or consumed over time. It is calculated as:

Energy (MWh) = Capacity (MW) × Delivery duration (hours)

The traded energy volume is automatically derived from the capacity and the delivery duration of the product and is displayed in reports and settlements.

Application in ETPA

Participants submit orders in MW according to the product’s delivery duration. When an order results in a trade, the ETPA system converts the traded capacity into MWh for reporting and settlement purposes.
